High pressure dominating this week across all parts so dry with sunny spells and night frosts and freezing fog patches but allowing a chilly easterly flow at times in the south east .
Monday 8th looks likely to see a strong area of high pressure for most parts with a moderate or severe frost in many areas away from coasts with some freezing fog about and icy roads. Welsh and central English valleys will again be especially cold. A few outbreaks of drizzle about in the far north and NW by day but mainly dry and sunny for most. A slight or moderate frost by late evening again. Temperatures at 5-7C in most southern areas today, may be up to 8C in the far west, but only 2C across upland areas of the UK such as the Highlands.
Tuesday 9th will probably see the high strengthen a bit across the northern UK for a time. Another widespread moderate frost with some freezing mist & fog patches too inland and icy patches. The frost locally severe in prone central Welsh and NW English valleys. Sunny periods by day for most parts after the mist and fog clears. The exception will be the SE where an E'ly breeze may bring more cloud and light drizzle in, just possibly wintry on the Downs. Frost and freezing mist patches soon returning after dusk except in the SE. Temperatures generally staying near or a bit below average in most parts at 4 to 7C but only 3C in the Highlands and 9C in the west of Wales.
Wednesday 10th looks likely to see the high move east and a light /moderate SE’ly flow developing in the south and a westerly in the north. A cold start in most places with a slight to moderate frost but cloudier in the far northwest with a little drizzle about. Mainly though a sunny day for most. By evening another slight-moderate frost setting in again after dusk but staying cloudier in the far NW so frost unlikely here. Temperatures feeling about average by day at 6-8C, though in the east and south east more like 5C; only 3-4C over the Scottish Highlands.
Thursday 11th looks likely to be similar to Wednesday with high pressure dominating across the UK, centred across the north of England and sinking slowly south east by day, allowing a weak E’ly wind to continue in the SE; another moderate frost at first & later with localised freezing mist & fog patches about, more especially in central and northern parts Of England and Wales. Max temperatures about 6-8C generally, maybe 10C in the west of Wales but only a chilly 5C near eastern coasts.
Friday 12th seems likely to see the area of high pressure move down across the southern UK. An early moderate frost and fog patches inland but more cloud about in northern western and far northern parts Generally drier and bright by day elsewhere with some food sunny periods. Yet another moderate frost by evening in the south & east but mainly too cloudy or breezy for this elsewhere with some light outbreaks of rain developing in the far west and NW. Temperatures generally 7-9C by day though up to 10C around the S coastal counties but more like 4C in central and northern parts and 2-3C over the Highlands, chilly for early March.
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th may change a bit but at present looks set to see low pressure more dominant than the rest of the week. Cold by night if cloud clears with slight frosts still in the east & perhaps some freezing mist patches inland in the east. Generally cloudy in the SW, west and NW by day with the risk of more extensive rain working into the west and extending across other western and NW areas on Saturday but by Sunday high pressure again developing from the west leaving many parts of the UK with a reasonably dry, fairly sunny day. Temperatures over the weekend by day will likely be rather below average for most areas at 4-6C but possibly only 3C in the Highlands but more like 7-9C by Sunday in the SW & W Wales & N Ireland.
