Location: Evesham, Worcs | More photos - mostly self explanatory. The SAR helicopter dropped a winchman onto the Workman Bridge - possibly because of a rescue operation upstream? Not sure as he was subsequently winched back up. Both bridges in town are closed and here on the north side there is now only one road open in and out.

Location: Exeter/Reading | Incredible pictures, especially the last one. What was the helicopter doing? The people on the far side of the flood - are they standing in the water? Seems to be a lot of people there - just looking?
Razor - on N24 they said the helicopters were on "stand by", which implied they weren't actually being used. What are you hearing? |

Location: Tiverton, Devon - N50°54 W03°28 - Elev 222ft | Dan,
I think the pictures above dated 21st July speak for themselves in regards that the helicopters are not on standby, they are actively doing a SAR mission, not sure what N24 are on about but to be honest, most of the time when i monitor ongoing SAR activities, the news are way off.... sketchy details, inaccurate details and so on.
Chivenor based Seakings aswell as others around the country have been busy all night with SAROPs in the Evesham Area.
St Mawgan based Seakings are also now on scene in active SAROP in the Evesham area..
Just a few hours ago, the St Mawgan Seaking was tasked with rescuing a person spotted clinging to a door of a shop in desperate need of help and also people trapped on mobile home roofs. |

The General outlook
The Main road into town, at the top of the picture is the bridge over the avon, totally submersed and possibly washed away apparently (can't confirm this of course). Notice the RNLI launch as well!

Location: Evesham, Worcs | A 3rd set of pictures taken this afternoon. Firstly, rumour has it that tomorrow's cricket match may be cancelled ...
The ferryman now needs a boat to reach his cottage ...
The main bridge across the Avon is now underwater. The bridge also carried sewerage pipes and whilst I was there Severn Trent Water and the Fire Brigade were arriving to try and seal these off. There are concerns the bridge could collapse.
Main attention though is on the other bridge, the Workman Bridge. TV crews were busy filming from the bridge but the public are no longer allowed near it, so it wasn't easy to get good pictures. Note the Avon is now flowing down the roads on the far side of the bridge. As well as the remnants of a mobile home, 4 gas cylinders were also smashing into the side of the bridge, unable to pass under it. I hope they are empty...

Location: Exeter/Reading | I think that picture of the helicopter over the bridge could become a classic. I strongly suggest contacting papers like the Sun, Mirror, Express and Mail - tabloids that like pictures - with that - they could offer you some serious cash for that. You've still got plenty of time for the Sundays and I think they'd love that image.
