Just look at the colours on the radar right now over eastern Ireland. Unbelieveable. I'm right on the eastern edge of it as I speak. Thunder being reported more widely now to the South of me. Can't remember such as swathe of intense Red / White echoes here for a long time :-

Flooding looks to be a very real problem over the next couple of hours. The rainfall looks like it will become very intense at my location within the next hour.

One wonders when the weather warnings will end. A seamless supply of advisories and warnings have plagued August so far.

Edit: Could some of those bright echos represent hail?

That's amazing. The red and white is almost on me now. It's rain and squalls here at the min. Surprised there has been no lightning here from that. I wonder if there will be a TN report today.

Same here Martin. Just waiting for the very intense bit to hit me now. Don't think an TN's will be reported though as visibility is poor with totally overcast and low cloud bases preventing any structure being seen.

Just thinking the same thing, visiblity is awful, if there are any they won't be seen unless they hit something. There's been squalls here since 03.00 last night.

If anyone has access to 5 minute ATD data, can they confirm if anything is electrified over here? I think I heard one clap of thunder about 10 minutes ago.

According to Philip Eden, NI has about 343% of the expected rainfall for this August up to yesterday. God knows how much it will be by the end of today!

It's interesting watching the continuous feed of moisture going into this thing on the Sat image!

It's been a right soaker that's for sure!! Absolutely discraceful summer overall. The only thing that keeps me insane is the novelty of days likes this! It's totally pouring down now

There was lightning here around 04.00, but that was last night. Very intense rain and squalls continue. This is still nothing compared to the rainfall we had here on the night of Aug 11/12th, that was the worst I have seen here locally in several years. It would be worth checking out the local rivers over the next few hours.

Lol "sane"

On the other hand, maybe "insane" is more accurate!

Think I'll give that a miss LOL! No way I'm going to go walking round some fields in that weather!

It's OK, I have a spare canoe, that way we don't need to worry when the river and roads become one.
