Some shots from yesterday afternoon, above Dylife on the mountain road over to Machynlleth. Several cm of pristine white new snow from Monday night covered the mucky old drifted snow from the Easterly last week. This section of the mountain road is the most prone to heavy drifting of all:

1) at first it looked as if it might be negotiable in 4-wheel drive

2) perhaps not!

3) hmmmm

4) definitely not!

5) walking further up I could hear an engine and coming over the brow found this at work

6) plenty to do!

7) but doing a good job! Looks like a snow-shower coming

8) closing in...

9) down it comes!

Cheers - John

Just to compare with Feb 2007, on same road, though:

Last one after heavy overnight rain & thaw.

Comparable to, but not a lot more than, the 2007 event!

snow hope - 11/2/2009 14:18 Very nice shots John - what height is that?

Approximately 500-520m ASL - it depends which bit you are on! Possibly the second highest road in Wales?

Cheers - John
