The contrast between the wettest ever July in the northwest and the driest ever in the southeast is incredible. It's been about 76mm so far this July in Dublin and that's probably the driest in the country; by far the wettest month so far this year but still a lot drier than last July.

Still stuck on 11mm for July, all we got this morning here was a trace. Seems a line from Oxford to Newbury missed the rain, doesn't look hopeful up wind. Next rain possibly Friday, we'll see...

Lightning Hunter - 26/7/2010 21:33 To 1700 on the 26th here we've had 25.1mm, which is 54.2% of average to this date. Looks like it'll be one of the driest Julys I've recorded since 1996.

Having checked against my records, in fact it's only the 4th driest July in my records:

1997 = 16.6mm

1999 = 17.0mm

1996 = 20.6mm

2010 = 25.1mm (so far)

2000 = 35.1mm

Still on 8.4 mm for the month here. If tomorrow's rainfall is < 2.0 mm it will be my driest July since I started recording data. GFS gives us up to 5mm possible ( though previous  predictions of same this month have come to naught ) but it should be in my top 3 dry Julies back to 1984:

1999: 10.5 mm
1990: 14.9 mm
2006: 17.8 mm

Currently about 207mm for the month after the heavy rain we've just had. First time I've ever recorded 3x the monthly average which for July is 71mm here.

Had 0.5 mm from some moderate drizzle this morning bringing monthly total up to 8.9mm. Now the clouds have cleared and there doesn't appear to be much chance of showers so looks like my new site record for driest ever July is certain.

An astonishing July which completely turned around the drought situation here.

213.1mm fell which is my 2nd wettest month on record behind last November with data since May '01. It's also my wettest ever month compared to the monthly average with exactly 300%.

Recorded my wettest ever date on the 20th with 63.7mm and during the 9 days between the 14th and 22nd, a massive 160.6mm fell.

Rain Days - 24 (+10)
Wet Days - 18 (+7)

July has also brought the running yearly total up from 67% of the average to 99%.

Driest July since at least 2006 here, indeed the first since then which didn't produce more than 100mm

Final total of 36.1mm is 82% of average.

Total here was 26.0mm, making it the driest since 1999 and my 4th driest on record. 48.7% of average.

The last 4 months here:

April = 27.0mm (47.0%)
May = 12.9mm (22.6%)
June = 28.9mm (60.6%)
July = 26.0mm (48.7%)

As you can imagine, all grass is pretty much dead and dusty, partly due to plently of sunshine and no overcast days.
