Random quote: Anabatic Wind - The air at the bottom of the valley is warmed by conduction from the heated land during the day. This air being less dense than air above it takes the easiest course to the top of the valley by following the warm sides

Cliff - 27/7/2010 21:27 It has been a glorious summer thus far and long may it continue. Don't worry you depressing b******* will get the chance to have your 20+ cold and snow threads running at the same time soon enough.

ditto that!

Keep summer going for as long as possible! Cold snaps always feel longer than lovely warm spells and summer days.. And we stand more chance of a few of those (admittedly, elusive) thundery plumes - ?

Indeed. Don't forget we only have just under two years and five months to go.

Being a window cleaner I've only just got back in profit due to last winter which was the worst I can ever remember.

For me, it wasn't just the two dumpings of prolonged snow, but the several weeks of high winds and inbetween that, lots of rain and plenty of days below freezing. In all, I lost the best part of 4 months work. I cannot even think about another winter.

I want summer to roll on right into November or December. I don't even mind the cooler days. Just keep it dry'ish with wind speeds under 10mph. After that, January and February can do it's worst.

..And no! i'm not saying that Summer is over just yet...but!!!?

Anyone willing to admit they're looking forward to the glistening white frosts, /QUOTE]

Are you mad? We've only just lost a bitch of a winter, had no Summer and are careering headlong towards another really cold winter.

We still had gritters out in May!

To be honest, I'm enjoying this year in the weather so far. Everything seems to be happening at the right times....(does that make sense?) I hope Autumn arrives at the time when its supposed to. I think 2010 has given us some sensational sights already. Prolonged snow on the ground, harsh frosts, brilliant bluebell displays (albeit a little late) and a wonderful NLC display the other week. With some very cold temperatures and some very warm to hot weather. Pleasant Spring days. Lacking a bit of thunder so far but everything else has been there. So I will be looking forward to Autumn and Winter....but not yet.

Anyone willing to admit they're looking forward to the glistening white frosts, ground hugging mists, odd gale and, okay, more of an Autumnal influence to the wx...soon be here folks, that's the reality.Always kicks off when the footie season starts imo, then the pace seems to quicken

NO WAY!

Shall we just finish July off and deal with August first!!! Takes me all my time to think about what I'll be doing tomorrow let alone in two months time!

If today and the past few days are anything to go by, Autumn has already arrived here in the NW. More like October than July.

Counting down for WHAT Nigel? Sound ominous.

Somerset had a long and harsh Winter past so we're certainly savouring the sunshine and dryness despite strong winds at times (today again) but it certainly will help the coming Winter which I think will be colder than the last unfortunately. Comes in 3's me thinks.

The doom and gloom mongerers LOVE a bit of Summer bashing, sounds as though Apophis is about to arrive sooner rather than in 2029.

Does anyone know what the CETs for June and July have been? This year just has a better feel to it than the last few even though it has not been spectacular.

I'm in two minds....

On the one hand my disease means my body can't regulate itself in the heat, so i just get hotter and hotter. Essentially on every hot day i end up with a fever which means summer is now rubbish for me!

On the other hand if we have another winter like the last, being disabled i will be housebound unless i can get snow chains for my mobility scooter LOL (now there's an idea!!!)

I think spring and autumn are now my favourite seasons!
