Toasty! Let's whack a few more prawns on the barbie and crack open some tinnies! Seriously, I guess this will take the record sometime - and I have a nasty feeling I'll be checking the page regularly to see when it happens!

Wonder if its windy there too? Coldest i think ive ever been in was -28c at a walk in Freezer at the Scott Polar institute, and it didnt feel very cold, although there was no wind, as is usually the case in freezers. Im guessing -65 with wind does indeed feel a bit chilly.

If you're outside, for say 10 minutes at -40*C with good insulation you won't feel cold until the 10 minutes is about up. If there's a wind, though, the heat is sucked out of you within the first minute or so, and you start to get very very cold by the time the 10 minutes is up.

The coldest I've been in was -50*C in February 1996 right at home. There was no wind though. In that temperature, fuel lines freeze, the air in your tires compresses, flattening the tire a bit,w hich then freezes into place until you get a few miles down the road.... and boiling water freezes before it hits the ground if you throw it in the air.

Frostbite also sets in within a few minutes to exposed skin at that temperature. It's dangerous stuff.
