Sunrise at the Butt of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, on 31st May 2003 during the Annula Eclipse.
The Annular Eclipse is caused when the moon is at it's furthest distance from the Earth and does not quite cover the whole of the Sun during an eclipse, thus forming this ring. The next one that you can see in the UK is on the 23rd July 2093.
