Head it up: TYPE OF EVENT eg FC then the location and county then the date in format 19062007 and finally add RFMI (request for more information)

I thought I saw a funnel earlier, but it was so broken up it was more likely to have been Scud but it was a fair distance below the base of the main convective cloud.

Just put it up as a possible Rod in a thread then if anyone else saw it better they can clarify it..

Is it me or are there many more FC sightings this year than ever before? Though clearly we are in a particularly conducive set up for them atm.

I've thought the same thing, but wonder if it's a higher level of awareness? I think the forum has more members than ever now too.

TORRO has had a huge increase in funnel reports over the last few years - from seeing some pics floating around, I know that some are not funnels. However, the widespread use of camera phones these days mean that people can prove if they've seen one, and are much more likely to report. I woul suggest that numbers have always been high, but awaresness and the huge numbers of cameras about now mean that reports are numerous.

Was going to make a new post re a tornado report in the media but I cant find the "new post" button at the top of the "thunderstorms - forecast Discussion & Analysis" forum.

Is there something up with my browser (IE8) or is the forum not open to everyone to add post or bug in the forum s/w?

Works ok for me, not sure why you dont have the New Post option? Im using Firefox 4 but have just checked it on IE8 and thats working too :s

IIRC you have to ask to post in discussion and analysis - reports, chat etc are in the general forum. PM one of the mods if you want access.

Thanks Stephen. Have just done that. Not certain though if that is the case (ie request only). There may be some s/w bug  ?
