I have started this thread to answer any queries or questions folks may have over the competetion here http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=18252&posts=1

 

Hopefully it is all self explanatory but if you want any advice (and no, I'm not going to ghost write your entry for you ) please ask here. We would like to thank Alistair of The Weather Shop for donating the fantastic  first prize, A Davis VP2 weather station and after much arm twisting and threats ;)  The management and exec of UKww scraped together a couple of old polo's, a tesco receipt and enough change to supply the second and third prizes ( at a good discount from The Weather Shop !).

The panel of judges are looking forward to some entertaining reading in the run up to Christmas, so don't disappoint them. Just think, you could be up on the roof this side of the New Year installing your very own, brand new and shiny, weather station :-)

Let me just reiterate, your entry doesn't have to be about some amazing event, it could be a sunset, a sunrise (with clouds of course), heavy rain, fog, light drizzle, a thunderstorm that wasn't, a chase that didn't catch anything, a solitary cloud, a hailshower, a rainbow, a sun dog, a glory, a Haar, snow, sleet, Ball lightning....anything at all to do with the weather, it doesn't have to be scientific just a good read which transports the reader to the occasion.

For a start, try thinking about an event which you have told someone about, something you saw and just had to share.....we've all had those, it could be something you've posted on a forum or something you told a friend just write it down, 20 words or 250 words. If you manage to win 1st prize and write 250 words, each word would have been worth about £2.40, if you can do it in 80 words it comes in at £7.50 a word, got to be worth half an hour or so [sun]

Well the entries are starting to come in but at the moment the odds are stacked rather favourably on the entrants side !! I know you're all waiting for that once in a lifetime event to happen between now and Chritmas which it probably won't, so why not get creative now and you might just be playing with a new toy in the New Year :-)

The entries are starting to roll in, thank you to those that have entered so far. Must say the ladies are outnumbering the men by nearly 2 to 1 at the moment ! Are the fairer sex really more literate than us males ???

Go on, if you can use a keyboard without too many speling misteaks then I'm sure you can come up with something that will have you unwrapping a brand new weather station this Christmas :%

I'm a little bit liberal with my statistics Trev, and did say "nearly 2 to 1". So I'm afraid you have slightly less chance of winning than 3/4. Now I know you are a gamblimg man, so I will say the odds are pretty good for a 20 minute outlay of your time v a possible £600 piece of kit ;)
