Notes: All flashes observed were ground-to-cloud. Maximum discharge rate occurred between 1815Z to 1835Z. Thunder was heard 40 seconds after lightning, all activity occurring towards the northwest.

Activity: Two storms from 18:40pm to about 19:30, then another at about 20:00pm

This storm was discussed in another thread but not recorded here. It took out our electricity (which came back at half power for a while before going off completely from 9pm-12midnight).

Your location: Huntsham

Time and date activity was first observed: 29th May 08 ~ 7pm

Time and date activity was last observed: ~ 7:30pm

Maximum discharge rate (strikes per minute): approx 1 every 2-3 minutes

Approximate total discharges:several but mostly away to the ESE and obscured by heavy rain

Direction of travel of storm:Geneally north but grew sharply to the west over us for a time

Closest proximity of discharge: 1 mile north of here but many strikes 2 miles to the ENE and ESE

Activity from one cell or more than one?:multicell

(Number of seconds between seeing lightning and hearing thunder divided by 3 equals distance in kilometres)

Any other unusual observations, i.e.Ball lightning, colour etc : none

Rainfall: a fraction over 16mm fell in about 20 minutes, rain extremely heavy for about 5mins when probably 10mm fell. Local flooding but rivers just stayed inside their banks
