Bristol Channel between Weston-Super-Mare and Barry/Cardiff.
24th March 2008 17.50
Approx 6-7 minutes.
Funnel Cloud.
6c Sun came out with cresp rays over the dark cloud itself.
Base in-line with Lulsgate Hill. (Height not sure)
The Bristol Channel was dark with a huge line of what looked like a cell, the temperature was 6c on my car thermometer and there was sun rays behind the cloud forming beautiful rays onto the Weston bay, within seconds a huge funnel cloud formed at the rear, it looked as though it was also heading upwards from the base of the cloud, much much bigger than a contrail or any man made sky formation. I know i'm going to regret not having my camera with me as the next viewing may be a long time coming for me!

Preston Lancashire

Time  2.30pm 23rd March 2008

Was sat in the living room  staring out of the window as the sky was cloudy, when my husband and myself saw this strange looking cloud very slowly passing by when suddenly this funnel came out of the cloud and was heading for the roof top across the road, we watched it elongate a bit further out, but obviously there wasnt enough updraft inside and went back up and disappeared. I did make a drawing of it and Sent it to one of the managers on here.

The whole siting lasted about 10 minutes.

I was watching a large CB move in from the northwest, as it moved over i spotted a small straight funnel that extended about 1/4 to the ground from a half rain wrapped lowering. The funnel lasted for about a minute before disappering. About 5 minutes after that a small funnel appered out of the the base of the cloud to the east which lasted for no more than 20 seconds. And finally about 5 minutes after that i went for a walk to better observe the storm when i saw a large area of rotating scud to the South east but i didn't get a good view of it becaus e my view was blocked by houses :( . 3 funnels, not bad for my first sighting [^] [tn]

Duration: Approx 5 min's

Tn, WS or FC: FC x3

Brief description of weather at the time: Two very slow moving thunderstorms merging together in west over Sperrin Mountains. Intense rain cores from both storms and regular c-g and i-c lightning.

Brief description of your sighting: Three funnels seen from RFB of southern most storm. First was a short clasic tuba, second was a black smooth ice cream cone funnel and the third was a large black abrupt lowering from a wall cloud type feature. Funnel was not of the classic type, it developed smooth walls and tilted into a horizontal position against the base of the storm before visiblity dropped due to rain.
