Hi all.

I've been told that old 3.5" hard drive motors are useful for making wind speed indicators.. have a few here of various types, any use?

 Apparently PC fans aren't as useful due to the internal structure of the motor (although they do have a handy hall effect switch that can be used with an HDD motor as a position/speed indicator.

 I also seem to have collected a large number of PC fans if anyone has a use. Will send for cost of postage..

 Its also interesting to note that if you have a broken HP printer (and some Epsons) they have a nice rotary encoder  disk at the side and an LM35DZ precision temperature sensor just behind the optical interrupt lid sensor, which is handy if you want to make an extra sensor  (air temp etc) for your weather station.
