What kind of minimum temps do you tend to get in an average winter? What kind of maximum temps to you get in an average summer?

Obviously not especially warm at the moment; maxima in Northern Ireland on several recent days were around 9 or 10 deg. C. and are also predicted to be around 10 deg. C. for a couple of days later this week. Obviously though maximum temperatures in high summer are very much greater. Madrid I know is a fair distance above sea level (667 metres or c. 2,200 feet) but I think I have seen a temperature map with the isotherm for July of around 80 deg. Fahrenheit (c. 26.7 deg. C.) though I suspect this is reduced to sea level (which would add possibly around 4 degrees C. to the actual mean temperature). I think in Europe, possibly only Athens in Greece has a comparable mean temperature in July.

In a book called "Weather to Travel: Weather Profiles and what to Wear for 205 countried" by Maria Harding (Tomorrow's Guides Ltd 2001) it gives the average July maxima and minima for Madrid as 31 deg. C. and 17 deg. C. (average 24 deg. C.) and for Greece as 32 deg. C. and 23 deg. C. (average 27.5 deg. C.). The average altitude of Athens is about 110 metres. Both these would translate to about 28 deg. C. at sea level for mean temperature in July. Inland in S.E. Spain however may well have a higher July and summer mean temperature (and probably also warmer in winter than Madrid). Seville's mean July temperatures are 36 deg. C. and 20 deg. C. (average 28 deg. C.) according to the same book, and the same in August, when Madrid's are 31 deg. C. and 19 deg. C. and Athens's are 31 deg. C. and 23 deg. C. in January Seville averages 15 deg. C. and 6 deg. C. (Malaga 17 deg. C. and 8 deg. C.), Madrid 9 deg. C. and 2 deg. C., and Athens 13 deg. C. and 7 deg. C.

Right, not specially warm at the moment,, but neither cold, due to constant wind of W-SW since two weeks ago.
