If we go by AEMET's official numbers, «6325O ALMERIA 'AEROPUERTO'» / «5783
SEVILLA (AEROPUERTO)» were the warmest Spanish stations during the 1971 - 2007 period with a 18,8 ºC yearly average.

Exactly this is the pdf file that I also posted in their Spanish forum

In absence of the official data for south east Crete and the Dodecanese for the past 15 years from HNMS,still Ierapetra remains the warmest...and we all know how the whole of south europe has warmed up the last 15 years

Today i am going to start a Quest to find out exactly what or where the warmest city in Europe is on average, i will begin a trial run, and have been in touch with Pit, AKA Mesogeiakos and have agreed on these 6 Places, though its now gone to 7. I will record each day the min/max and mean temps up to the end of the year as a trial, then start proper in January with a rolling average for each city.

Below are the list of cities vying for the warmest on average in Europe, if someone has another city they think should be included, im prepared to add that, credentials are they must on average have an annual mean of over 18C.

Ierapetra, Crete, Greece

Luqa, Malta

Rhodes, Greece

Almeria, Spain

Palermo Porta Raisi, Sicily

Seville, Spain

Heraklion, Crete, Greece

Reggio calabria has always been the city with highest average yearly temperature and possibly highest in mainland europe not even cities in sicily have been able to match it. the only place warmer year round would be lampedusa linosa 19-20+ .

Highest Recorded temperature in italy unofficially is catenanuova in sicily 48.5

according to data hierapetras average is around 19 not 20.4 as stated and they do get freezing temperatures and snow there to at times the hnms seems to be based not on accurate stats.

Karpathos i tend to agree might be in the 20 range as i have stats from old weather book average jan temp of 57f. and my grandfather swam in its sea in mid january during the second world war
