Hi Ross. Yes my files are Jpeg. The error message I got from UKww was the one Ive quoted above mate. Make sense of that if you can !! All the photos I tried to post were set at 800 pixels and under 200kb.
Cheers. BB
Were they under 150kb Martin? See: http://www.ukweather...posts=6&start=1
Sometimes the original picture is bigger than average, or contains more detail/colour information. In these cases Picasa, presuming you are exporting resized pics with quality set to "automatic", will end up over 150kb. A good way to check your 800px ready for upload to UKww is with Windows itself: whilst looking at the folder in Win Explorer just highlight the pics one by one and check the file information (bottom or left, depending on which version I think). Change the Picasa export quality settings to "minimum" or even have a play with "custom". Hope this helps mate. :-)

Martin, the message relates to the settings of the UKww forum software, which obviously you can do nothing to change.
Essentially, you're being told that your attachments (pictures) are too large. If you work on a standard of 800 pixels wide, max file size 150k, you should be totally safe. You can reduce the resolution almost as much as you like to achieve this: even 72dpi should be fine (though I don't use Picasa, so I don't know how these things work in that software).
I also found posting photographs horrendously difficult at first, and I've worked professionally with Photoshop. The interface isn't intuitive at all. It's not just you, honest!
I'm sure you're completely fed up with going through this time and time again, but I found it helpful to set up a bookmark to Howard's notes on posting photos so I could keep referring to them. I eventually did crack it.
Also, don't forget that you can preview your posts before you submit them and delete them for a few minutes after they've been sent. This can avoid some embarrassing moments, not only in relation to images that go pear-shaped. ;)
Sorry, Glyn - we were obviously replying at the same time. I think we're pretty much saying the same thing.

Martin, here's the Picasa export menu to show you what I meant. You can use Windows "character map" to copy and paste the copyright symbol into your watermark too.

Glynn, thats where I must be going wrong, I had image quality set to max. For some reason I was thinking up to 200kb was acceptable rather than the 150kb it actually is. Doh. Another idiotic question if I may, where do I find the Windows character map to get the copyright character ?
Cheers all. BB

Just about the same for most versions of Windows, I think (currently I'm running Windows 7):
Start> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map Select the Copyright icon when you find it then click "copy". Right-click in the watermark option in Picasa export menu and "paste" then type your name or copyright notice. [y]
