I dont know about you guys i have seen no improvements since the switch over, only for me things have gotten worse, i use the top 50 posts and quite often it will fail on the refresh and i get the closed for  maintenance sign, and this happens when on a thread, now this isnt so bad if you havent posted anything like i have done a few times and it times out, you then try refreshing, doesnt work! so the only way to get back in is to re-type or go into your favourites/bookmarks and start again.

Sorry but im getting frustrated, especially if your making a longish post, well for me thats 4 lines lol, Okarke Dave be careful haha, seriously anyone else having same probs?

Yes i get the 500 errors too, but like you say, you can refresh with them, but invariably you cant with the closed for maintenance ones, hence posts being writen are lost, now i am going to copy and paste anything lengthy just in case :s

Is the new server the reason I am unable to look at the photo comp gallery from previous months as well?

Since the change over, in firefox with the top 50 posts I also get the closed for maintenance or the error 500 message. I go back into the forum via the homepage and then it's fine for an hour or two before it happens again. Thought it was just me lol.

Paul.

Same here:   I do leave the top50 page open so I can just go back to it through the day.

Hey All,

Similar message here every once in a while. It is like the html server service stops for a second whenever the server re-indexes the file structure. If I did not know better I would almost suspect it to be an ADS issue as the html response with the graphic would not occur if the actual server were down. Likewise, if the BBS service was stopped. Hence, I suspect the issue is a sub-process under the BBS similar to a RDBMs look-up or a indexing delay.

Cheers!

Right just had a quick look - the upshot is that this is going to be a case of trail and error, so please bear with me on this one.

I will change things scientifically and one at a time....

FYI there are some real and suttle differences between the old and new server. for one is the OS, the old server was Server 2003 32 bit, the new one is server 2008 64 bit (We need 64 bit to see all of the 8Gb of RAM that we now have installed , old server was just 1Gb RAM)

First change (Just implermented) was to run the UKww site in a 32 bit application pool - ASP is not fully support on 64 bit 2008 server (I had it running in a 64 bit Application pool)

Please report any 500 errors if and when they arise.
