Even though I live in London I have decided to open a topic on interesting weather reports coming from Greece
I will be posting here weather reports from various parts of the country.I mainly get my information from the Greek metoffice(EMY), the National Observatory of Athens (NOA),the Greek press or from various Greek weather forums.
For starters according to the NOA, Athens(Gazi) has seen just 11mm of rain from the 1st of March until today...A very dry spring so far for most parts of south eastern Greece
In fact the Island of Ios has seen just 1mm of rain from the first of March until today!!!

lets hope the authorities learnt their lesson form the 2007 wildfires that killed almost 80people in Greece and left thousands homeless and that they are taking steps to prevent future wildfires despite the usual heat and drought during the summer
lets hope this summer is gonna be ok

Spanish summers are usually dry too, but springs are usually a rainy season. Thunderstorms are frequently in this season here.

Well the west parts of Greece are relatively wet and humid throughout the year.Especially the Ionian sea Islands(Corfu,Zante etc) and Epirus.
Macedonia is generally wet apart from Thessaloniki which is relatively drier compared to rest of Macedonia.Thrace also can be rainy.Thessaly is in a transitional zone and can be either wet and humid in parts or drier towards the interior
The eastern and southern parts of the country and specially Attica,Eastern Pelopponesse,the Cyclades and Dodecanese as well as Eastern Crete are pretty much like south east spain

And Athens has only seen 11.0mm of rain the past 63 days...
This is very worrying especially for Athens as the summer period that follows can be extremely dry in the capital and could play an important factor in temperature extremes in the Attica basin
If this continues Athens will have a big problem accommodating its 5 million population in the metropolitan area in terms of water supply

Given it's already mid April I would say they are around 3C above average.

According to the National observatory of Athens today in Greece the temp maxs are
30.2 Herakleion (note that HMNS/Greek metoffice gives a provisional 31C for today)
29.4 Knossos
28.3 Ancient Olympia
All of the northern coasts of Crete are flerting with 30C as we speak due to the phoen and Saharan winds

Also worthy of noting is Tymbu in Cyprus 29.8c @ 1200UTC, not far behind Turkeys top temp at the same time was 30.0C

Athens has not recorded rain for the whole of April...
The centre of Athens has recorded just 11mm of rain the last 71days...

Also I d like to post something completely off topic(I didnt know where else to post it on the forum) but I hope you can sympathize as I consider very important to get as much publishity as possible especially within the UK
It would be highly appreciated if you could please visit the following link and vote for this campaign that started 1 week ago.Support coming especially from Britons would be highly desirable as this could force the British Museum to enter a more constructive dialogue before this is brought to the EU parliament.

This video was funny, but there is an important message within it. What's more, Greece is currently going on a VERY strong financial and economic crisis ! Germany and France (and the EU in general) will try to help this country, but hey, German and French politics are quite reticent to help (in particular Angela Merkel).

Well if Germany and France is helping Greece is not bsc of their good heart but bsc of their fear that Euro will be totally distabilized from the attacks of those who want to make a profit from Euro's fall,since Portugal is on the queue and waiting after Greece
Now for the marbles,well we would like to thank the British museum for offering to lend us the marbles on a ''rota'' system after 200 years of not even discussing about it and only entering discussions after we built one of the most modern museums in the world last year.. so thanks,but no thanks.British public according to polls is on Greece's side and I trust on Britons to support us even more

Yeah, that's right. I know that it's not "because of their good heart", it's evident. The problem is that other European people outside Greece also suffer from the Global Crisis, included the German, the French and the British (even though they're the three richest countries in the EU), so, the leaders don't know what to do and how to help Greece without "stealing" people's money. Sorry, if I don't express myself very well. :( In any case, you're right about the Euro's fall on the markets.
