Instead of the Elgin Marbles, could we send Greece some of our rain and cool weather, and Greece could oblige us with heat and sunshine (though will settle for 25 deg. C. instead of 35 deg. C.!)?

Let me correct the max for Greece. It was in fact 33.9C in Livadia according to NOA.HNMS provisionally gave a 32 max for Greece in Athens so we are safe to assume 33.9C was the highest for today

AT LAST RAIN in Athens !!

The ex airport had 19mm last night,Thisio 6.8mm and Elefsina had the lowest precipitation in Athens with a mere 3mm...it was a stormy night for much of central south Athens!!

In fact Elefsina has a mere 14mm total for the past 101 days...

Just to let you know that last week northern Athens was hit by one of the most historic thunderstorms for June. Kifisia recorded an amazing 50mm overnight which is a record for Athens in June and has been the highest precip ever recorded in metropolitan Athens from 1897. The average precip for Athens in June is between 5mm-9mm!

We actually had damages from thunders in buildings and electricity points. It was an amazing night ...a first for Athens during the summer

Greece's highs yesterday according to HNMS on pretty much a typical summer day (apart from the cloudy weather)

Leonidio 36.6
Athens 36.2
Agrinio 35.8

Greece has been having a very unstable weather and almost every afternoon we see cloudy weather during the warmest hours of the day and sometimes rain or thunderstorms...this has been going on for some time now and is very strange for Athens

An interesting find regarding the minimum summer temperatures for Athens.

I am not really sure if I have mentioned this in the past or not but Pireus which is Athens' port has been giving consistently the highest minimum temperatures in the summer in Greece and probably in Europe!

While checking the data for Pireus from HNMS I made an astonishing discovery...The absolute minimum temperature for Pireus in July and August according to HNMS available data is a remarkable 20.0C for both months!! These were recorded on the 1/7/1969 for July and 16/8/1968 for August...

Eilat in the Red Sea has an absolute minimum for July 20.0C as well and 20.4C for August according to Israeli authorities! This is pretty amazing!!
