A lot of slugs are cannibals, so if your beer isn't working, put the squashed ones in your traps.

Can't say I have noticed that many slugs around this year, no more than normal, but I've been plagued by snails! Slug pellets don't seem to work, so I just keep picking them off and disposing of them with extreme prejudice (I know they have a "homing instinct" if you just move them), but more come back to replace them.
