Going forward we will have two discussion threads for North American weather each month.  One will be for local discussions and reports from members, including those visiting NA, and of course all members are welcome to discuss the weather conditions reported in this thread.  There will be a second thread for observations and/or discussions for all other general weather discussions outside of local weather. 

Separate SPC threads will still be run as we have done in the past.

I've just been looking at the situation over northern Greenland. There is quite a large High over that region and the temperature on top of the Ice Cap is down at -61C/-78 F . So although it is mild and zonal over Europe and most of North America south of the 49th parallel, it is certainly not mild everywhere.
