Water butts now almost empty after watering in new crops and seeds, plus watering in Gromore around the fruit bushes.
Time to visit the local recycling centre to see if they have any second hand butts.
Generally ground this way still has plenty of moisture within, but one of my raised beds turned out to be surprisingly dry.
River Exe still flowing nicely.

I really do despair sometimes. The idiot up the road who uses a sprinkler every day in the summer just for their lawn has started using it today just with what appears to be to beat the restrictions they've announced. Really not impressed with this type of behaviour!

Its entirely possible that after this weekend there will be no more rain this month looking at the models this morning. Really a far from ideal situation.

Today's rain doesn't look like it will help us much here either. GFS was suggesting around 15mm a few days ago, maybe we will actually manage 5mm or so...

About 5mm along south coast/Downs so far west from Beachy Hd towards IOW so significant- if not exactly a deluge

There is either:-
Abstraction of water going on upstream, or,
Exmoor is starting to dry out, or,
Both.
My regolith is still reasonably damp, but the soil has dried noticably on the raised beds.

Next ten days looking very dry. Brisk east winds in south at times will aid evaporation. Bud burst is now apparent on many trees signifying increasing take up of water by flora. I am now having to irrigate the seed beds.

I look at the billboard in your picture there Liz and wonder why we have a privatised business that provides us with a real basic need. ... and pays dividends to its shareholders and multi-millon £ salaries to its execs.... yet can't supply the capital with enough water.
