There are 2 Climate stations in Hertfordshire, at Rothamstead and Buntingford.

Beat me to it!

I had long thought Buckinghamshire didnt have any, Woburn being beds i think, although High Wycombe maybe bucks. Grendon Underwood closed down in the early 2000s i think.

Does anyone know if Ballykelly, Co. Londonderry, a site which has been going for many years (it recorded a very low temperature in early March 1947 so must have been going by then) is still going? Readings from it seem to have disappeared from the Met Office and other weather websites where it used to appear, to be replace by Magilligan above, but I am fairly sure I saw it mentioned after this on the TV a few weeks or so ago. Eglinton is not far away and in a similar sheltered lowland situation near the shore of Lough Foyle, but Ballykelly more often seemed to give higher temperatures, especially outside the warmest months.

Ballykelly seems to be still going as of Feb 2012.

Looking at Carmoneys 1971-2000 data, Derry must have the coldest summers for a city of its size anywhere in the British Isles with a mean max of below 18c in both Jul and Aug - even Aberdeen and Inverness beat that.

Yes High Wycombe is in Bucks but it is the only UKMO station in the entire county, you'd think there'd be one near Milton Keynes, though I suppose they'd argue Woburn is near enough

Rothamsted is in Hertfordshire, as is buntingford...

But you are right, everyone in Hertfordshire is most certainly subhuman. Particularly at the Galleria over the A1M, full of zombies there. Posted Image

I cant agree more. lol

I didn't know about Buntingford.

I don't think it appears on the met office web page.

"Ballykelly seems to be still going as of Feb 2012."

It may still be going but values do not seem to appear on-line; perhaps it is no longer automated.

The Hull park east and west stations seem to be some kind of project (presumably temporary) to measure for any UHI.

Browsing the Met Office library catalogue, the one thing i notice is the proliferation of short span records. There really arent all that many sites that span decades.

Giant's Causeway features today on the Met Office website with max of 21.4 C (almost equalling the NI record at Armagh of 21.7).

Does anyone know if that site is related to or same as this site run by Queen's University, here? :

http://www.qub.ac.uk...portedStations/

From looking at that page, the QUB site is run using Davis Vantage equipment. Does that mean the data from the Davis is acceptable to the Met Office? Or are there other sensing equipment in operation there?

I know many climate sites operate two systems in tandem (ie conventional met equipment + automatic AWS such as a Davis etc.)

Ok Ive done some more research and there does appear to be two separate streams of data emenating from Giants Causeway.

1) which looks like the official data : http://www.weatherca...bsid/99188.html

And

2) which is the (Davis) data you get when following the QUB website. http://www.wundergro...sp?ID=IMOYLEBU2

Pretty sure they are separate, I can not see UKMO accepting readings from VP2, what with their stringent requirements, i,e Stevenson screens etc

Delving further they definitely are not the link you give above gives a maximum of 21.2C whereas the hourly max for Giants Causeway is at least 21.4C

It would be interesting to know why stations are removed, for example if the siting is no longer suitable for some reason. I don't suppose we will know though!

Two recent additions in Wales to the Weathercast pages

Libanus (in Brecon)

Swyddffynnon (nr Aberystwyth)

With regard to the Woodford station, why could the MetO not return to Ringway where a 50 year record exists?
