Total here for 2011 was 759.0mm, which is 87.2% of average for my location.

Only the 4th driest here since 1996, with 2010, 2005 and 1997 being drier.

The wettest month was January with 114.1mm. The driest was April with 6.5mm.

Apparently the record driest year here was 1921 when "3 gauges in Evesham measured between 374 and 385mm". I wasn't far off though!

A total of 946.3 mm at my place of work, following 88.2 mm there in December. However in my garden, where December rainfall was about 99 mm the total is I think over 1,000 mm (I will check these figures when I get home and post these here whenever my home broadband is back on - it was off last night).

As the average rainfall is probably around 800 mm here (this is about the driest part of Northern Ireland) then 2011 has been up to around 120% of average rainfall. I understand that provisionally Scotland has ahd its wettest year on record, and I wonder what some totals and percentages in places in the Western Highlands (e.g. Cluanie Inn in Wester Ross) might be? I understand that East Anglia had its 2nd driest year on record, with average rainfall less than 400 mm.

978.0 mm for me in St Germans which is just 2.5 mm less than average or in percentage terms 99.7% of average. Such has been the wet years recently that 2011 actually becomes my driest year since 2006. March and May and Spring were all my driest ever, no month or season was my wettest.

A reasonably wet December 83.4mm (compared to the rest of the year) meant I just crept over 600mm at 605.1mm making it slightly drier than last years 634mm. Still about 200mm under the average for this area.

Looks like 431.5mm will be my final corrected total. The outdoor cacti live to fight another year!

December was the wettest month with 67mm or thereabouts. Wettest day was August 25th with 16.5mm.


Need to check the reading against the climate station at Gringley to see whether I'm under-reading by any significant amount with the automatic gauge - I do have manual gauge readings but only on paper at the moment. The nearest amateur station reports 428mm so not a lot of difference there...
