Yesterday saw another mild day but the south west just edged it due to cooler minimums for the SE

At long last St Mary`s has gone top! But can it gain enough daylight between there and the two London Heavyweights of Heathrow and St James Park come the end of August? Personally think London will win this time!

LMAO! Now St James is getting worried! See attachment lol

Another mild day however both Northolt and Heathrow managed an air frost yesterday, something which has not happened this season so far for St Mary`s, Culdrose, Camborne, Plymouth, Portland, Guernsey and St Catherines Point.

Hehe ;), actually I don't think St Mary's has enough time now to build up a winning lead, unless we have another intensely cold spell in February.

Totally agree and may even need a cold March too!

Yesterday saw extremely uniform temperatures, if we take St Mary`s out the equation for example the minimums ranged from 8.2C to 8.9C, and the maximums from 9.5C to 10.5C

***Extremely Uniform lol sounds very contradictory :blink:

No, I really meant maps, so that we can figure out the warm spots and the cold spots (from your other thread) on the UK map.

I'll try to create an example with France, next week, when I'll have more time.

I really would not know how to do that Morgane, but please feel free to do it yourself, you are very good at that. :)

Bit of a turnaround with the South west being colder yesterday due to its clearer skies and lower minimums. Yesterday was the 1st time St Mary`s did not have the highest minimum from this group since the 12th January, a run of 12 days, and also the first time it has not been the warmest overall since Gravesend took the accolade on the 19th

St Mary`s way above the rest yesterday and had no influence from the colder spell, almost a 9C difference between them and bottom placed Northolt. Camborne now up one place ahead of St James

Coldest in the SW especially Cornwall yesterday. Culdrose, Camborne, Plymouth and St Catherines Point all getting their first air frost of the season. Portland, Guernsey and St Mary`s still to have one.

Coldest day yet yesterday with a group mean of just -0.01C. Culdrose in west Cornwall of all places recording the coldest temperature from this group so far. Meanwhile St Marys and Guernsey are still to record a sub zero temperature.

St Mary's and Guernsey didn't see a single frost for the moment. I was about to say "impressive!", but actually this is not that impressive, these stations being truly mild. :)

St Mary's is in the zone 10 (hardiness zone).

Thats interesting, Thanks Morgane. Spoke too soon Guernsey had its first air frost yesterday. Big differences between west and east as the warm front went through, raising temperatures in the est, some 10C mean difference between St Mary`s and Northolt.

Big differences between west and east with the west being in the mild sector. Portland is challenging St Catherines Point for 2nd place and Camborne is challenging Plymouth for 7th place

This cold spell certainly is working in the South West`s favour. Portland has just gone up to 2nd, and their are a few battles going on in the annual table too.
