Cooler in the SW again! Last year St Mary`s had taken the top spot on the 16th and apart from a small blip in October stayed top throughout until the end of the last trial on Aug 31st. I can not see St Mary`s getting anywhere close that soon. If we have a mild winter then The Isles of Scilly could end up being knocked off the title of warmest place in Britain!

September is certainly starting off mild up this way, performing better than the summer months for that.

Stormy day - really? Not in London or for any of these here, though the Capital and Gravesend coming off much better again (Grrrrr)

Gravesend up to 3rd ahead of The Solent and St Mary`s up to 10th= with Plymouth

A general cooling occurring now, but the South east still doing better than the South west. Still cannot separate Plymouth & St Mary`s, as they both had exactly the same mean temperature yesterday.

Just been having a play around on excel and have changed the format slightly. The cells that are highlighted RED are higher than the group average and those that are DARK BLUE are below the group average. Interestingly after 13 days only Jersey and Solent are above on all 3 counts of mean temperature. Yesterday`s figures show exactly the same

The south coast faired well today with London and the SW not doing so well with the exception of St Mary`s who has gone up a place ahead of Plymouth. The Solent was the only place which had all reds. Plymouth and Camborne got all blues even though here in Plymouth it felt quite nice today in the sunshine.

Big drops in mean temperatures, and even bigger ones in mean minimums after a cold start yesterday. None of the stations got all reds, but Jersey was close with a red mean, a red max and a neutral minimum. Plymouth was the only place to get all blues. Again!

Its nice to see above average temps round here, but no guarentee that it will last through the winter. We had lovely weather through to 17th December 2009, to the point of me thinking about having a BBQ for me birthday and having summer flowers in the garden still, that was right before the snow came. Still, long may it last.

Here is todays data with London and the SE having some nice temperatures. Was very pleasant here in Plymouth and felt warm this morning, was up to 18.4C @ noon but got plagued by alot of cloud in the afternoon and the temps fell.

Just St James Park and The Solent getting all 3 reds, whilst Plymouth (Yet again) got all blues along with Jersey.

This is a re-issue of yesterdays data as Plymouth`s max temp was incorrect, i had to use the hourly observations because no max synop code was given yesterday, it is now on the Ogimet site and Plymouth`s max was 19.1C and not 18.5C, makes no difference in terms of colour - still got 3 blues! But only just the mean max was 19.11C so just missed out on a red lol

Felt pretty chilly here in Plymouth yesterday a definite autumnal feel about it, hence many of the West country stations had all blues. Just to re-cap on the 16th September last year St Marys had taken the top spot. How very different this year so far.

Somewhat of a turnaround yesterday, Is this the start of the South West climbing the ladder? London pretty chilly especially in the morning. Solent was the only place to get all reds, and Northolt managed all blues. Plymouth got its first reds yesterday too, and only missed out on all 3 by 0.2C on the maximum

St Mary`s top yesterday for the second day running and along with Plymouth were the only stations to get all reds, a first for Plymouth so far. Northolt bottom for 2 days running due to its low minimums.Solent the only place to have all blues yesterday.

Mild minimums yesterday morning due to rain and or/ cloudiness. The bottom table shows St Mary`s and St James Park mean temps for the 1st 20 days in September 2010 and comparing them to the 1st 20 days of 2011. Whilst St Marys was enjoying the lead in 2010 at this time and had a mean of over 0.6C more than it has this year, the reverse is true of St James which has had over 0.6C improvement this year over the last period. Could these early days be a key factor?

Just St James Park and Gravesend getting all reds yesterday. With the expected warm spell expected next week i expected London and the SE to pull even further away from the SW.

Today saw the Solent being the only one with 3 reds. St Catherine`s Point has gone up to 6th ahead of Northolt and Portland up one to 8th ahead of Guernsey.

Was chilly here this morning with thick fog across SE Cornwall, I see a few places had colder minimums of late, guess we have been spoilt with the warmer nights this month. Camborne up to 12th leaving Culdrose holding up the rest of the group (It should be used to that from last years! )

No max synop code given for Heathrow @ 18Z so have gone with the highest hourly max, but should a max synop code appear i shall adjust and re-issue the table.

Ooh yes it was a cool night round here last night, had the heating on in the back of the van for the last hours before sunrise. Nice to wake up to bright sunshine this afternoon though, after many beautiful mornings being destroyed by cloudy afternoons. I can put up with cool nights as long as we get sunny days.

Indeed and another cold morning on Saturday, especially for Gravesend and Northolt, so London didnt do so well because of that, yesterday redeeming themselves abit though. Here is the weekends tables
