As this is still bugging me (it is becoming a pain to keep having to open the link in Chrome) I have looked a little deeper and now see it is the way the link is formatted that is not liked by my particular setup.

As an example, a very recent post by Tony Gilbert has a url of:-

http://www.ukweather...eds-7th-dec-11/

However, the link has the url:-

http://www.ukweather...showtopic=87865

If I replace "showtopic=87865" with "/topic/87865-convective-outlook-tues-6th-weds-7th-dec-11/"

then the link works. I also note that as I typed the above (in Chrome, by the way) then the provided link does not display as a hyperlink, while the original url does.




Does this give anyone any clues as to the cause of the problem, please?

I can't access quite a few thread on this forum. I get a "Currently viewing all posts. Change threshold?" error. No posts are shown. If I toggle between any of the options in the drop-down menu, nothing changes.

Here is one such thread I cannot access:

In total there have been about 15 or 20 threads I have not been able to access over the past several days, and this same error keeps getting thrown up. I have tried logging out and logging in again. I have tried a reset of my web browser, and I've tried another web browser instead (Chrome). But it is the same problem each time. Screenshot attached. As far as I know, these are all public threads which I should be able to access normally. Other people are sharing links to these same threads, so I assume others can access them fine?

It seems that the problem was related to the specific version of Firefox I was using coupled, probably, with specific settings on my computer.

Firefox has just been updated to version 9.0 and everything is running fine again. I can, once more, open links within this forum's email notifications in Firefox.

Two items:

1) In the mobile version of the site, clicking on a forum link from a thread gets a 403 message. Eg if I view the snow reports thread, and then click the link for the Current Conditions forum, I get the error. Slightly related, is there any plan to enable Tapatalk now? Not too bothered if not as the mobile version is pretty good.

2) Not sure if this is an issue as such, but it seems that most of the time, if you click on a forum thread link from the home page it goes to the first page. However, sometimes it goes to the last page, and maybe even to the last post. I *think* it may be dependant on who posted the last post (eg who is listed by the thread title on the home page). Is it possible for the latter behaviour to always be the case? Even better, in the mobile version of the site, you automatically go to the last viewed item in a thread when you visit it - which is great. Is it possible to enable this in the main site interface?

Is 2) about the mobile site or the non-mobile site? If the latter you can use this to view the last post. If the former it confuses me a bit as well. I think the key is to click/tap to the right by the arrow but sometimes it doesn't work (or I've got big fingers )

Two is probably conflating two things, but they were related so I put them together. I probably should have split them up as it is a little confusing.

On the main site (non-mobile), on the home page - ( www.ukweatherworld.co.uk ), top right is a list of the seven most recent posts. If you click on them you are *mostly* taken to the first post of the thread, but sometimes to the post referred to. The latter behaviour is preferred for all posts (though the former behaviour is only annoying for multi-page threads).

I know that from the forum pages, if you click on the date/time next to that arrow it takes you to the last post, which is also good, and what I tend to do. I think the arrow only does the same thing from the few times I've used it? But neither are available on the home page anyway and more often than not you go to the thread start.

However, what I would really like is for the main site to behave like the mobile site and always go the the last visited post.

No asking for a lot of effort. If it's not just an easy setting or something somewhere, then no worries. I just assumed that if it was working on the mobile skin, there was a skin setting or something that turned the behaviour on or off.

Not really a techincal issue but I can't start a new topic so I'll put it here as a question/suggestion.

Is there a function in the forum software to allow a delay of say 30 seconds before marking an edited post as "edited" within? It is really annoying to spot a simple typo or misspelling after posting and correct it but have the same note the post has been edited as if you had completely changed your post!

AFAIK the feed that the UMKO Warnings script uses will cease at some point and the links in the posts may not work. Not sure when they'll stop that but I guess the feed needs changing at some point .

Is there a problem with Private Message facility ? I have attempted to PM a member, who is a part of the UKWW Management team but I'm being advised that the Member 'Cant Use The PM System' ....surely that cannot be right?

I expect that member has their PM system turned off. Think they were all off by default on the switch over.

Hi John, the PM system needs to be activated by the user on this board, if the person you have tried to PM hasn't activated the facility you will get that response.

Thanks for the clarification Paul. It seems I must have been under the false impression that if the 'PM this member' icon appeared, that they had activated the functionality.

Hmm, I would have thought so too John. I see there is no icon next to my name although PN's are enabled, maybe it just doesn't show up against ones own profile. The only other thing I can think of is that somehow the person you are trying to PM has blocked you. Beyond that I'm stumped !
