To change your settings, profile details, add an avatar etc etc, go to your name in the- normally- grey box at the very top right and click the arrow there for a drop down menu ..

To get messages you'll need to go to your settings via the check in box mentioned above and enable them as they are switched off by default here

Using "Add Reply" at the bottom of the page shows your reply normally.

Using "Reply" on any post will quote that post in your reply (this replaces the old "quote" link).

Clicking "Multiquote" on selected posts in the thread then "Add Reply" quotes all the selected posts in your reply. This is useful if many 'conversations' are happening within the same thread. (If you mistakenly click a post to 'multiquote' just click it again to deselect).

Also, just noticed that in Google Chrome pressing [Ctrl + "-"] or [Ctrl + "+"] changes the font size for the whole page but keeps the formatting the same, nice touch! (As opposed to simply magnifying the page view)

Not sure that this is the "best" way to do this but if you want to quickly show table data (e.g. from Excel) in a post then copying and pasting won't work, even in rich text.

Copying it between CODE tags by selecting CODE from other styles and then pasting however does give a quick and easy table but you lose any text/backgound/alignment formatting.

Here's the "raw" input with spaces in the tag so it shows as plaintext

[ code ]Row Column Column Column Column
Row data data data data
Row data data data data
Row data data data data
Row data data data data
[ /cod e]

And here is the actual output.

Row	Column	Column	Column	Column
Row	data	data	data	data
Row	data	data	data	data
Row	data	data	data	data
Row	data	data	data	data

It seems that using the "quick reply" box to make a second post shortly after an initial posting results in the two posts being concatenated into one post

If your old username and password doesn't work, click "forgot my password" (or something like that) under the sign-in fields.

Type in your username (not email address) and click proceed.

Go to your email account where, shortly, an email should appear from the forum. Click the link at bottom.

Enter and re-enter your new password, when you proceed you might hit a "500 server error". Don't worry.

Retype www.ukweatherworld.co.uk in your browser address bar and follow the forum sign-up link, enter your profile name/username and new password.

It worked for me, hope it works for everyone!

I've just noticed from Steve Jones' status update that he's managed to get in via FireFox by changing the password. In case this thread is visible to guests (or members having problems should I say) maybe some browser advice is worth adding (and maybe to front page guidance..?)

If you have any bookmarks or favourites from before the forum update, then delete them from your browser. To get back here you only need to type in the address of the main page and follow the link.

If you have requested a new password, check that your browser hasn't saved old passwords, or change the saved password for this forum to your newly requested one.*

If you haven't yet requested a new password, it should work fine; but if you encounter a problem then please follow the guidance on requesting a new one.

* FWIW I don't let Google Chrome save any passwords, and turn of the 'clear temp internet cache/cookies' function. I do that with C-cleaner every time I go offline because it actually clears everything, and you can exclude 'safe' cookies like this site from the process. When you log into a 'safe' site then check the "remember me" box and you'll have a cookie that puts you straight back in.

^ ^ random quotes for example

Took me a while to fathom it as I was just getting one quote but this is how it works. Click on the MULTIQUOTE button for each post that you want to include which then changes colour to show it is active. Then click go to the bottom of the page and click on ADD REPLY ( i.e. don't click on REPLY to a single post) et voila!

That wasn't what I meant. I'd typed out two replies in quick succession and somehow (not sure how) they became a single reply...
Still it's useful to have the Multiquote instructions because I've not been sure of that feature...

Sorry Peter I was using random quotes as an example not as a direct reply to you and Dave ;)

Yes, if you make a post in the same thread within 2 minutes, it will put it in the same post, one of the good features of this software

Well I though I would miss the option to add "special characters" for accents and non Latin alphabets such as Greek and Cyrillic but this test by c & p shows that the forum software handles them perfectly well without any special treatment (assuming readers' browsers do of course!).

Indeed as PK mentions this bunches the two replies up together.. annoying , is it possible its due to a filter to ensure spam doesnt get posted?

Is there anyway to toggle display of stickies?
There's one or two where the stickies take up more than the first page of posts - eg the photography forum, and this one.

Moved from another thread

I've just realised the 'quote' I posted above makes no sense. I realised my error too late to edit it.

I quoted something posted on the first page of this thread. I thought I was looking at and quoting the most recent entry, and not the first page, and I know this is not the place to write this but when I click on a thread, to be not looking at the most recent page is really really irritating.
I click on this button Posted Image (at the right of the screen) to view the last post in the thread

Great. I think I prefer the layout of the previous forum and I still havn't worked out how the pm's work.
Hard to advise without detail but the only problem I've come across with the PM system is this one.
