The UK though had above average temperatures in December and January, its well below so far for February but overall we will have to see.

Cool across Europe in general with Greece just shading it, and Portugal being the coldest yesterday

Nowhere in Europe particularly warm yesterday. Greece shading it due to its warmer minimums. No data from NOA`s Palaiohora so i await for it to come back on line

Can you run this ranking untill the 1st week of March, since February is such a short month?

No, sorry mate i am going to stick with the original plan and after all, meteorologically speaking the whole months of December, January and February are classed as winter in the northern Hemisphere of Europe.

I hope Cap Béar will try to reach the most closely possible the 10°C line, during the remaining days, it would be such a pity otherwise to be the only station with a below 10°C winter. :)

Hey Morgane, I just checked St Mary`s on the Cornish Isles of Scilly and their winter mean to date is 9.05C, mean max 10.23C mean min 7.88C - not bad eh?

Indeed, the Isles of Scilly are doing very well in the winter, it's not surprising that some Phoenix canariensis can be found there and even on the main territory of the UK.

Here are two pictures that I had already put into a thread some time ago (before the new forum was created), I'm posting them again because I love the very southerly atmosphere that emanates from them. And you know how much I love palm trees and botanics in general !

Aren't these banana trees in the background of the second photo ? :D :P

Penzance, on the main territory :

Didn´t know P.Canariensis could survive in UK, neither the could survive heavy frosts...in Lisbon they grow as a plague, every garden in the city is full of babie palms that every year must be cutted off :(

The growm from their seeds, and propagate very successfully...the same with Acacia Mimosa, Washingtonia Rubusta and the Agave cactus.

Well...in Pt temps are recovering...but they have been up to 2ºC below avg for the month...

Next week will be milder..with temps up to 22-24ºC in the warmer spots around the 23rd.

Between the town centre and sea front lie the Morrab Gardens - three acres of renowned sub-tropical gardens which are home to a surprising variety of plants, shrubs and trees which thrive in the mild climate. Some of the plants grown for over a century here include magnolias, camellias, tree ferns, palm trees, and banana plants.
Posted ImageClose to the Morrab Gardens are the Penlee Memorial Park where fifteen acres of open parkland host a small open air theatre, tennis courts, children's play area, an adventure park and a football field. Located within the Penlee Park grounds is the Penlee House Gallery & Museum.
Posted Image On the outskirts of the town, about two miles north and near to the village of Madron are Trengwainton Gardens - owned and managed by the National Trust. Here there are spectacular displays of rhododendrons, azaleas and other plants from the Far East, New Zealand and North America all in the grounds of a large mansion.

All 6 countries/territories had a representative in the Top 8 yesterday, I think this is a first, so no one really dominating. No positional changes in the Accumulative table as a result.

Thanks Ian for the pictures of the gardens of Penzance. :)

France has warmed up quite a lot, particularly with its minimums.
