UKww Weather Watch for Severe Gales and Heavy Rain

Areas affected - Heavy Rain - Highlands, Argyle & Bute
Areas affected - Severe Gales - Highlands, Western & Northern Isles, Grampian, Tayside and N.E England


Valid from: 2200Z 26/11/2011 to 1400Z Sunday 27/11/2011


General evolution: A deepening area of elongated low pressure will split in two, the rear Low expected Southern Shetland 970mb 0600hrs Sunday, with very tight isobars will produce very strong winds to the North and NE of the UK and its associated front will give rainfall totals up to 40 mm in 12 hours for the western Isles. These strong winds could gust to over 75mph coupled with Spring tides may cause coastal flooding.
