UKww Weather Warning for Blizzards, Weather watch for snow & drifting snow

Areas affected - North Western Scotland, N & W Highlands
Valid from: 1230Z Sunday 04/12/2011 to 2359 Tuesday 06/12/2011
General evolution: Areas of low pressure close to northern Scotland with attendant fronts/troughs will bring a cold polar maritime north to north westerly airmass across the above area. There has already been 2-5cm of lying snow across parts of Scotland today
Forecast : There will be snow showers , sometimes heavy at times and strong winds in the northern parts of Scotland at times with gusts expected to exceed 50mph at times esp over high ground above 350m . The showers may merge to give longer periods of snow in places with 2-4cm of snow falling in each event, more esp above 350m. By the end of the period some areas may have seen 10-15cm of snowfall.
