Big congratulations to John Cameron for reclaiming the top spot back in 2011, thoroughly deserved with an impressive mean of over 40points a month. Well done to Jane B's highest ever finish and for Tony Sales for leaping from 11th in 2010 to an excellent 3rd last year. [y] :D

Lets make 2012 a fantastic year for weather photography by using Ukww to showcase some of the best in the internet. I don't want to read " I've had no weather" excuses, just get out there and be creative with what you do have! ;)

The table is as follows:
( a score of 0 does not necessarily mean a photo was entered that month)

Congratulations John, Mr Consistent living in a wonderful place [y]
I hasten to add though, that because of the way Howard runs the comp, its all the contributors who also steal the show- no just the winners (not taking owt away from JC mind)... I enjoy looking at the pictures and picking my top 5 - and I think I've only picked Johns pictures in a couple of months!
So, 2012 and probably into the 9th year .... I'm looking forward to seeing more and I'm hoping more members take the couple on minutes it takes to vote... In fact- should we get 10% of our members to vote next time Howard will go into hiding! -- get Howard into hiding! :D

Big well done John also to Jane and Tony. Nice one. Also to all the other entrants and voters who take the time and effort to vote. It is a great comp and I thoroughly enjoy it. Looking at some of Jan's Photos already in the thread this is going to be a competitive month. Agree with Howard pep talk and try to get a couple into the comp every month. Good Luck all for 2012.

I'm glad someone had the balls to say it. And I agree with the second sentiment.

Congratulations to John and the other top scorers though for showing us how it should be done, and I'm looking forward to attempting to make the weather in the flatlands look interesting during the coming year.

Well done everyone!

And a big thank you to Howard, I certainly appreciate the effort you put into running the photo competition!

I was keen on photography before I came across UKww but on doing so this vastly increased my interest in it and I'd like to think my skills have increased somewhat from learning from the many excellent photographers on the forum. I thoroughly enjoy seeing other people's photos and the competition certainly adds inspriation and a bit of excitement to things - so please keep up the good work for 2012 :)

It certainly gives the impetus to improve, or try to ;)

Congratulations to John, and to everyone else.

Just a thought to add to this competition. Quite a few people make an effort to go out & take photos & unfortunately get nothing for their recognition for taking the time to do so if they don't get any votes which is exactly the same score as someone who doesn't bother ( looks embarrassed & shuffles from foot to foot). What about giving a base 5 points per photo entered as recognition for adding to the competition plus any votes, thus people who only maybe enter once or twice a year have a score that reflects on that & those who actively enter month after month & contributing to this rich competition get some added recognition for their efforts. Just thinking aloud & sharing a thought :)

Sounds like a good suggestion to me, Pete.
I think it would encourage participation, especially for those who live in the less photogenic areas of the country or are less able to travel about.
