One of the spectacles of weather in the mountains is the inversion whereby clouds lye to a level and clear air is above... here, to around 1300' is misty cloud and above that on the mountains its crystal clear.
How does anybody forecast this, what synoptic features should I look for? ... guess... the air above needs to have a layer whereby the temperature is warmer so that the cloud/mist is vapourised and below needs to be cold.....
So, this friday after a brief period of sub 528dam and maybe snow passes a mild high pressure gently pushes up, winds drop, the boundary level remains cold and moist after Thursdays precipitation and higher up the still air is warmed by the sun.?
Am I close or miles away?
Thanks
Andy
