Areas affected - Wales, South Midlands, SW England
Valid from: 1200GMT Sunday 29th January 2012 to 1200GMT Monday 30th January 2012
General evolution: Fronts from a low pressure moving from SW Ireland to SW England will mix with colder air over the central UK giving some snow in places as it does so.
Forecast: 2-5cm of snow expected over Wales, with perhaps more for higher ground. Over high ground above about 250m snow is also expected over Exmoor and Dartmoor and other high ground like Salisbury Plain. Gradually the extent of the snow will move SE, possibly bringing snow to the South Midlands and parts of inland central southern UK including Dorset & Hants , however there is some uncertainty on the eastward extent of the precipitation.
