WV Eddy/Eye or Shallow Depression? - Mon 30/01/12

Just started reading into this as the 12z ZAMG from the Satrep site describes a WV Eye just west of Ireland at the moment. The difference is described well in this excerpt from a satellite interpretation manual from KNMI (hosted on the RAMMB/CIRA website).

Some of the 00z/12z model output defines the surface feature as a wave (GS/NAE) with others a near cut-off shallow low area (earlier this morning), whilst all show the upper level low. So which is it? Posted Image
