Something that hot lovers and thunderstorms lovers will be hoping to see more of this summer than they have seen of the last two summers and old fashioned hot thundery breakdown!

1st August 1999 was a scorcher here but during the afternoon noticed cloud building to the west and it went bang in the later part of the afternoon.

As much as I dearly look forward to a thundery breakdown in August... I can at least take solace in the fact that I'm a 'hot lover' all year round!! Posted Image

Yes me too, would happily swap our climate in a flash to something more tropical and thundery!

Yes I am a heat lover too and lucky to be heading off for a week in Sharm El Sheikh soon, though sadly the chance of storms there is near zero.

I do like the egyptian climate especially in June and July when I've been before, although it goes without saying you don't expect to come back with camera full of big CB's and lightning shots ;)

Oh Matron...stop messing about!

Looks like these storms were right over my area. Trying to cast my mind back...were these the ones that caused a great deal of flashes late in the evening? Think I filmed some on 8mm from an upstairs window when I lived in Shobdon, lightning up the whole neighbourhood.

Again a vid of a VHS from an 8mm...

I will be uploading a few thundery forecasts from the summer of 1994

This is from the 1st of July 1994, looks like the classic storms development over France pushing into SE England

Those BBC forecasts were the best format they ever had IMO - informative and easy to interpret. I always got excited when I saw those flashing lightning symbols over northern France :D

This is from the 4th of July 1994. Storms had struck the SE overnight and Michael Fish talks about the huge storms over Europe

This from the 30th July 1994. Remember these ones, had a thunderstorm during the afternoon and then another on during the late evening. It really was the summer for thundery plumes

No amount of fancy graphics and or animations can replace "violent thunderstorms likely.." and "vicious winds near TS" - straight to the point Posted Image

Certainly some mouth-watering prospects for TS lovers, on a week-end too, what a boon! just need an en core Posted Image

Some classic forecasts there - especially with the sferics being depicted by the flashing lightning symbol! Just about remember some of those 1994 storms, was at Fairford airshow on 30th July 1994 and a sharp storm passed over there.

Has anyone got a forecast archived from 10th July 1995? There were some epic storms that night (a Monday I think) which tracked NNW across Cent S England, the Midlands and Wales. I believe that lightning damaged an electricity substation somewhere in the SW Midlands that night and some parts of Hereford and Worcester went without power for 36 hours (I certainly had 2 days off school as a result of power cuts!).

Some good forecasts here.

Does anyone have the weather forecast for August 2003 (if memory works).
I believe it was a huge MCS that came up from France.
