I've got one of them. The anemometer only lasted about a year and I have now replaced it with a really good but seperate stand alone analogue model, but the rest of the station is still going strong nearly three years later. The rain gauge only measures in 0.3mm increments, so I don't use that, I have a manual rain gauge that is much better. I have the station connected to an old PC and it downloads to that. I found 'Cumulus' software (which is free to download) really good. The sofware that comes with the station is not up to much. All in all though a good cheap weather station. Have fun!!!.

You may want to mount the rain gauge at the top because it is in the shadow of the anemometer and wind direction gauge when the wind is from behind it

Hi Guys,
I have been completely pre occupied with a possible house move of late, I've only just noticed that my console is no longer receiving data from the outdoor instruments.I've changed the batteries in the outdoor sender but this hasn't worked. Do you guys reckon this is probably terminal, especially as it is only a budget outfit.

You may have to mess about taking the batteries out and replace them again, I had this problem too, it took a few goes for it to start recieving data again. Also it takes a good few minutes to start working once you change the batteries.

My station is fine after three years use and one battery change, I've even got the anemometer working again after is seized up.

I have one of these as well, badged as a Watson WS8681. Been running for 2 and a bit years. Had to replace the the rain gauge after about 12 months and the wind vane is very light meaning it spins all over the place but running it along side my Davis Vantage Pro it gives very similar results. Have had issues when it rains as the console seems to lose contact for a while and then it will all come back again but as its now a back-up station I can live with that.

I also use Cumulus (for both my stations) as I like the configurable Tweets bit.

If you can change the sender unit for the solar powered one - only £35.00 Here
