The image says it all - it was an absolutely beautiful day here until the cloud-sheet started to drift over mid-afternoon. Sorry that using a wide-angle close makes it look p*ssed - I wasn't then because that was the first glass after a good work-sesh. Brambles invade from the top of the garden, and every year they need to be beaten back, which always works up a good appetite. My blog reminds me that the last meal cooked on this hearth was on November 27th, slightly under three months ago. Out of the wind, temperatures quite shot up, not to what folk in the East had last week, but put it this way I was in shirt sleeves and still felt hot. Once the cloud-sheet came in I had to put on layers again.

Haven't seen any of those in B&Q lately and that definitely doesn't look like quorn! bet it went down well enough, i suspect med/well-done

Yes I have a policy of using what's to hand. Just emptied my fireplace of wood-ash and about to add that to the beds & rake in - it's like lime, but better. The soil here is acidic so it is very handy stuff.

Weather makes such things possible, that's entirely the point, and in February!!!!????

Today not so good but better than the models expected, so the entire winter's wood-ash has been scattered plus a load of crushed charcoal, and all raked in before the rain did arrive in the afternoon. Good to give the soil some TLC
