This was the Braer Storm, the one that caused a huge oil tanker to hit rocks on western Shetland. The forecast significant waves for this storm were in the order of 17 metres (55 feet) with max waves likely near 28 metres (90 feet). Fortunately, the severity of following storms allowed the oil from the Braer to dissipate naturally, so there was no major environmental disaster.
Moved house on 13th Jan. The wave depression mentioned in this forecast gave storm force winds across southern areas during the late morning and afternoon. There were gusts of wind on this day up to 75kt, even well inland.

The forecast for the latter part of the week didn't go to plan as it did not foresee the development of the low which brought wintry weather to parts of Scotland in a download I made some days back
