I have been using an old vp1 as a back up for some time, normally using a newer vp2 without any issues. For the past few months the main unit sensors have stopped functioning ie the console says they are transmitting but I receive no info. I also run a soil station and wind station on seperate transmitters which still show up fine on Weatherlink.
The past week or so weatherlink has started behaving badly freezing, and not producing text files. Ive tried 5.5 up to 5.9 versions with exactly the same issues.
Can anyone out there offer any constructive help or where the VP1 unit may or can be repaired.

Phil

For the weatherlink problem, have you tried a system restore to a time prior to the problems?

I have had issues with corrupted WL data on the PC before which causes issues. How about restoring a backup from a time it was AOK (I assume you do it at least weekly) and seeing if that is OK? If newer data then uploaded from the logger than causes it to go screwy then you know where the problem is.

Phil, that does sound like two unrelated problems, though certainly a coincidence if they both cropped up at the same time.

On the VP1 ISS: I presume that no readings whatsoever are being received from the ISS transmitter? If you've got the 6330 box active then you won't be able to log ISS reception. But if you were willing to turn that 6330 channel to off at the console then you should be able to log ISS reception again (to the extent that you can see it in Weatherlink at least) and just double-check that reception is zero. I presume that you might have tried clicking the DIP switches back and forth on the SIM - just occasionally they can misbehave and have the ISS transmitting on a different channel from the one you have set - but this is a pretty long shot admittedly. We might be able to source a VP1 SIM if you were interested, but whether it's cost-effective...

On the WL issue, the first thing I'd try is to download into a newly created station, just in case there's any corruption in the database file.

I had trouble with two corrupt files, one with the suffix '.dat' and the other with a suffix ....that i forget (".cfg'?). But they seem to be written to frequently and are vital to getting WL right - not i suppose that other files are not...

Thanks for the replies. I had already tried various system restores, going back even in desperation to 3 or 4 months ago, but the problems remains unchanged. I had also turned off the ISS so it wasnt receiving info but weatherlink still crashes.
I will completely remove weatherlink off the pc I have some discs for reinstall and call it a different station. Only trouble is that we a have a family party going on this weekend and it could be a bit of a problem fiddling with my weather station etc..
Will post any changes Many thanks again

Just try creating a new station first before trying any further reinstallation. It's very rare IME (not impossible of course but very rare) that the WL executable itself gets corrupted. So the first thing to try is to see whether the data files on the disk might be corrupt - a new station will test this.

It may also be that there's some bad data in the logger, which may need completely clearing and restarting.
