Very dry so far, just 15.4mm falling which is 37% of the average for the first half of March. Rainfall has been observed (mostly drizzle) on all of the last 8 days (8th-15th) but this has amounted to under 1mm in total.

A very dry picture up here in Bathgate also, March currently at 18.6mm (the average is 74.8mm)

When you combine this with a dry February; also 18.6mm (average 80.8mm) and less than average January which had 70.4mm (average 112.2mm) 2012 is by far the driest start to the year I've recorded.
The average rainfall for the first three months of the year is 267.8mm - current 2012 is only 107.6mm - so odds on for half the average rainfall by the end of the month.

Still running dry at 17.5 mm which is 65% of average to the 20th. EvapoTranspiration is already at 27.7 mm though so the rain won't have had much benefit for soil moisture.

Currently on 26.4mm here, which is 54% of average to this date, and nothing else expected for the month.

Not looking especially dry in the New Forest yet though. All seasonal ponds and puddles still pretty full - perhaps down to April levels, but not really very noticable yet. Still puddles in laybys etc.

15.3mm to-date for March, of which 12.9mm was on one day. Only 4 rain days so far this month.
7.8mm for Feb
36mm for Jan

So a very dry start to the year. Following on from just 16mm in Dec.
