Dramatic Skies, Bristol Channel, 17 March Gust Front?

Decided to pop out and stretch the legs hoping to catch one of these beefy showers that were forecast. Was just setting out when I noticed this approaching (approx 1400 hours), took a number of snaps, most of which are on Flickr.

Unfortunately I was so busy snapping away I failed to realise the potential drenching I was about to endure, suffice to say, I squelched all the way back to the car, although happy to have seen it! I am assuming it was just a gust front (?), looked out across the Channel, but could not see any significant lowerings. Once it expanded and passed us, it degraded and lost its structure and then the rain hit!

Excellent structure there. Looks like a classic gust front to me.

i'm jealous because there hasnt been aninteresting days weather here for what seems like months!

Cracking pictures there. I could see the gust front and structure from my position in South of Bristol. Pity it passed just north.

Those are fantastic pics - no. 2 especially. That wide angle lens really helps! :)

Cheers for the comments, yeah the Sigma 10-20 is a blessing. Wife wasn't too happy with the resulting downpour, but inside I was very happy but I kept that mainly to myself as we splodged the mile or so back to the car. ;)

I have a couple more that I need to get off the camera. Mainly ones where it had lost its structure, but still pretty dramatic skies.
