I notice that apart from Mostar it seems all the stations are recording reliably and frequently enough for the summer challenge

Typo Pit, Mostar should read 18 lol

No changes in the Top 15 and hardly any changes after that, although Mostar has come off the bottom and now Manosque of France has the wooden spoon honour

Hi! :)

So, after 20 days this month, Conqueyrac and Les Arcs-sur-Argens are still the leaders. The second places are somewhat still unsure... As there hasn't been too much sun for some parts of Gard (to a lesser extent, of Var), it can be tricky to choose one instead of another... Hey, I want the best of the best for the European Challenge! :P In reality, we all know that we don't really feel the difference when there is 1°C or less (in the shade) of difference between a location and another, further more when it deals with temperatures of around 35°C. (though, from 1.5/2°C, you can feel a little more, for instance, when driving up a high hill, or when moving from the sunny side of a mountain to the dark side of it, further more when it's below 20°C)

Edit: oh, I didn't notice in the beginning, but it seems there are some differences between our figures, Ian? uh? Conqueyrac is warmer in your table, while Les Arcs-sur-Argens is warmer in mine...

Hi Morgane, Have just checked my figures against yours and there are a couple of discrepencies, i can not check them against meteoclimat because i am at work, and i can not access that web site.

Conqueyrac

10th You 12.8C / me 16.1C
19th You 17.0C / me 16.2C

Les Arcs

16th You 20.9C / me 19.7C

Ok. I checked Météo Climat: Les Arcs is 20.9°C on the 16th and Conqueyrac is 17.0°C on the 19th.

As for the figure for the 10th: I know what happened; actually, Conqueyrac didn't record during a few hours roughly between 6pm and 9pm. So, in order not to choose a value that occurred the previous day, I've set the parameters as below:

Attached Image: Conqueyrac - 12.8C (10th Apr. 2012).png

Indeed, either we choose the 24-hour period 00.UTC-00.UTC or the 24-hour period 21.UTC-21.UTC, but when trying both, I didn't succeed in getting Conqueyrac, so I finally chose 9.UTC-18.UTC (12-hour period). When doing this, you have 12.8°C. In the end, I think your 16.1°C is a value from the day before, that is to say before 9pm, on the day before. :)

OK Thanks Morgane, I have been using 00Z to 00Z for this project simply because that is what AEMET and HNMS use. I will adjust my figures tomorrow not sure how i come to get the others wrong lol - i am glad you are on the ball hehe ;)

Places in Central & South East Europe should warm significantly later this week as high pressure builds, temperatures in Spain and Portugal may well be below average as unsettled conditions are quite likely.

Indeed Chris, Greece and Bulgaria certainly reaping the benefits. Portugal is cool and wet, though Spain is not too bad although its warmer to the east in the regions of Valencia and Murcia

Here is the last 3 days of data, as some of you maybe aware i was without internet at home due to a fried modem from a lightning strike, hence i have got behind on all my projects, well this one at least is now up to date. Sandanski of Bulgaria moved up 7 places to 15th being the biggest mover in the table

Thanks Pit, for your PM, i am not sure if you got a reply from HNMS but the last couple of days Nea Filadelfeia has been recording lol

Warming up nicely across Europe, only someone has forgotten to tell Portugal that, whose stuck in the same cool flow that the UK is experiencing. Every station on here got to 20C or higher, except ALL of Portugal`s ones. Conqueyrac`s temperature of 20.4C was an hourly maximum temperature as Meteo-climat obviously did not have the synop-code for the maximum, so its likely it had got a little higher than this.

Many places getting their highest Maximum so far this month, which is highlighted in black in the 2nd table

Yes all a bit worrying really, not just with Filadelfeia, but Andujar too, and these two are main players! In theory 5 fails in a 30 day period should disqualify them, my only thoughts is as long as there are not too many fails is to guess their maximums compared to nearby stations, though not exactly scientific!

Many places lower in the table had their highest maximums yesterday, and some had higher maxes so far this month than their counterparts higher up in the table, and there was me worrying that Alghero which i chose for Italy was a wrong choice! lol

While lagging behind early doors my choice Mostar had a good day yesterday and a better one today with a rounded recording of 31C.

Its done better than that Chris, with an hourly max so far of 31.5C, currently 29.4C, so a max closer to 32C i reckon.

You dont need to do this for Filadelfeia. You can use the rounded value from the HNMS hourly updates, you will only miss it by a few decimals worst case scenario. For example for the 27th the maximum was 28C

Btw I still havent emailed them but when I do trust me its gonna be one of my special tantrums :P

Thats if i am watching throughout the day lol, for example it only gives you the last 8 hours worth unless of course you will be able to help when we start for real - hopefully by then HNMS may have resolved their software issue but i doubt it - same old same old ..... lol

Nah Ian,you dont need to watch all day long!If you go by the maps you get a 24hours window period :P

But not to worry even if you dont manage this I am watching the Greek stations so I will usually have a screenshot of the maximums per station!
