LOL Love it! Sarcasm the best form of wit :D

Nature has great expertise in good sarcasm...

Last year we had a crappy Summer, and by the week the ranking ended, we have a huge heat wave that lasted from 25sep to 20oct....

This year, 5 days after the April ranking ended, both the european and the american models are showing a tremendous heat burst, that will start midweek next week and last for unditermined time......temps in the mid to upper 30´s for highs, and around 18-22ºC for lows.

I bet either Pt or Spain will be the first european country to reach 40ºC...and in just a week!!

The latest from Sivas in terms of annual mean maxes (minus May) .A mean max of 25.2C while for the same period Seville stands at 25.9C and this with an extremely cold autumn and winter in Greece. But fear not...should Greece have a normal winter next year Sivas can easily give Seville a run for its money! I mean come on..only 15C mean max for Jan and Feb when it should have been at least 17-18C for that area? And dont get me started on the autumn values :P

Here are officially my six stations for the 2012 European heat challenge:

Carpentras (Vaucluse), 99 m. asl
Manosque (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), 457 m. asl (is at a fairly high altitude, but very well located in a hot area between the mountains)

Les Arcs-sur-Argens (Var), 56 m. asl
Le Luc (Var), 80 m. asl

Conqueyrac (Gard), 125 m. asl (holds the French record of 44.1°C; it's an official one, though it is a bit controversial)
Montclus (Gard), 120 m. asl

I based my choices on the month of April 2012, and on the fifteen first days of May 2012, after a quick analyse of my internal battles, one of which I kept... internal, on my computer. B) :P

One month left before the great battle starts!

Yes, Nîmes is a bit weaker than Montclus, especially because the city is closer to the sea. Montclus is in addition situated in a more protected area.

Carpentras and Le Luc can be viewed on Ogimet, while the four others are only on Météo Climat. Of course, Ian, if you want some help or advice about this somewhat capricious Web site, don't be shy. ;)
