A good day for dust devils across southern and southeastern England. Cold airmass, dry ground, variable winds and strong insolation contriving to make first few feet of atmosphere above ground cool super-adiabatically with height, dry ground making for good visibility of said phenomena.
A relatively strong dust devil has been reported from a set of allotments in Colcheseter, Essex, strong enough to turn over turfs, and crossing several allotments on its journey. No collateral damage reported. Unfortunately have no more info on exact allotments or post-code, but it caused quite a stir amongst the allotment holders.
Can anyone in the area find out any more info???
Dust devils perhaps most likely near any weak sea breeze fronts.
