Just taken a pano with no less than 5 cb's present. Nothing in terms of thunderstorm action, but a really stunning day here in Hampshire.

Think the cell over Barnsley is going to catch the N of Sheffield and pass over Rotherham. Looks like a gust front forming.

I'm posting this here in the chat rather than definite reports because I'm not sure if it was a rumble of thunder we heard about 5 mins ago. Certainly the dog is behaving as if it was, and the clouds look promising. Perhaps someone else can confirm it

That cell looks pretty nasty, but has slipped off to the east heading for Worksop. We are just clipping the main line of showers now, which has lead to a mostly fine and occasionally sunny afternoon!

The real action looks to be around the vale of York this afternoon judging by radar, with a line of activity from Carlisle to the Humber. Something interesting over the Peak district and another area near bradford. Best stay away from me when I walk home at 5...

You'd be safe here in Doncaster!

Been watching big showers all afternoon both to the N and the S - but no precipitation at all has reached me...

T'other half reported a significant hail shower just N of Doncaster at around lunchtime.

Think that one went white on the radar.

Their a nice looking cell handing past me north of haywards heath. No thunder or lighting yet. But look like a scene from twister carm before the storm!

A nice hook-echo on the 1705 radar return north of Buxton. I was looking at the cell around the same time but nothing evident seen, other than a gust-front prior.

Some very photogenic CBs over Leicester this evening. These pictures were taken about 15 minutes apart (the one with the big anvil first) at around 1700 looking North towards Loughborough.

Short heavy shower over fleet. Several rumbles of thunder, one observed lightening flash. Some hail.

I sat on Portsdown Hill, nr Portsmouth this afternoon after work. Missed the earlier thunder, but caught some really photogenic Cbs :)

I filled a memory card with images for the first time in about 3 years! Had a good view of the Southampton cell as the Sun lowered too.

No thunder witnessed at all though.

Showers forming in lines again, though oriented more NW-SE than yesterday's W-E. I wish I knew why lines formed!

I think it's 'roll-type convection', when the flow is linear (no directional shear). I found the attached graphic while wondering the same thing myself, but would assume in today's case it was somewhat more enhanced by instability than just cloud streets.

Well what a day,cbs in pretty much every direction from 11am,thunder heard from cell over north shropshire at 10.30 things went quiet then until a meaty cell with fantastic structure skirted telford at 14.30,strong cc and torrential rain, and then came the star of the show a unexpected hail storm at shawbury around 1600,tje biggest most intense hail i have ever seen-malteeser sized! Then some sunset lit anvils to end the day...

12/04/2012 Looking at Ukww Plotter Cape is showing over Southern UK and the East coast of Ireland near the border from about midday extending to Northern England in the afternoon. Estofex has a slight risk shown for today. STV local forecast for Scotland has also forecast heavy showers with possible thunder. Not a forecast just a summary of information available.

Lots of stratus around this morning. Views will be obscured if it doesn't at least lift before stuff gets going.

EDIT - already see it shooting up to the W & NW. There seems to be a train of tcu to the N as well.

A bit messy around here too atm. Quite nice when the sun comes out. A more northerly flow than yesterday so anything decent usually skirts either side of me when its like that.

Already looking like following yesterday's trend. Got one to the W and one to the N, but no really clear view of either.
Radar shows the one over the W Peaks clearly (looks like hail on Kinder), but the one to the N over Bradford looks messier on radar - and there's no clear anvil from here either.
