Have posted a reports thread for today, Estofex showing a slight risk over most of the UK, Cape levels seem lower today and mainly over NI,Southern Ireland and SW Scotland later on. However Cape values up to about 450 over Northern France and cloud building in the North Sea may lead to something who knows what may develop!!. Certainly dry and bright here this morning.

Looking at the net weather radar there appears to be some interesting stuff over the Cherbourg Peninsular and further east in Northern France..... suspect the sea temps in the channel will still be a little cold for imports though....

Similar to Pip's post........I have been looking at those brighter radar echoes after the main rain band, now entering the channel, could bring some nice evening downpours at least to southern/south eastern counties??

Heavy shower just passed through Wakefield. One rumble of thunder heard but that is not confirmed on Met Office Lightning.

Sky looking distinctly 'bubbly' around here and to the north and west. Things may be kicking off.

Have had a pleasant 3 hours just up in the hills 8 miles from home. Great visibility and light with plenty of convective developments, nothing severe but that wasn't expected. Photos at some point!!

Cheers - JOhn

They were what probably triggered the lovely loud storm here in Somerset and the Bristol Channel earlier John. Louder than normal and triggered car alarms as it did sound like a Thunder Clap so wouldn't be surprised to hear that something got struck possibly. Didn't last long though as was very fast moving despite looking like it was going to last for quite sometime. Glorious sunshine here again now. More warmth energy for later I think with luck.

That's true Ed, I certainly notice it! When I went to France the storm found me, unlike this country where you need to chase or be very lucky! :)

When there is a storm everyone will know about it, whether it's on here, Facebook, telephone etc as I get so excited lol.

Can see from your storm reports Jamie that the past few years have been poor producers for South West storms but Already this year has given the odd rumble and bang better than previous starts to the past 4 or 5 years, fingers crossed we are in for a good productive stormy year.

Looking more threatening here. Skies very dark to the west. As they say round here: come on me babby!

It arrived looking good but nothing more than steady rain with a few intermittent heavy bursts. No flashes or bangs. :(

I woke up at 8:30am and heard a distant rumble of thunder and again a few minutes ago!

I'm not adding this to the 2012 storms unless I get a proper storm ;) Willwood reported seeing flashes near dartmoor so it may miss me.

Already posted in reports. This is looking great!

Today looks fun. Looking for cells moving up N-wards through ~Carmarthenshire, with a view to watching them down at the coast. Nowcasting followed by a potential intercept if any of them look to be able to deliver. N-moving cells in a good shear environment have produced two neat wall-clouds this past two years and today looks like there's a chance again :)

Cheers - John

May there be lightning, thunder, hail, and of course; wall clouds :)
