Dear Staff and members,
bit confused regarding the forum for Site Rules, Announcements & Suggestions :huh: ?

This forum ATM doesn't appear to allow members to add suggestions?...So I am posting here ;)

Can I respectfully suggest that there is a forum created for 'Tornado/ Funnel' reports , specifically!. The current system has recently proved to be a bit messy with reports going directly to the Thunderstorms - Forecast Discussion & Analysis?

I am very encouraged by the recent influx of UKWW members willing to get out and film Funnel Clouds and Tornadoes and even better still carry out site investigations as we have seen over the past week. It would therefore seem appropriate for a separate forum to exist for this area of interest. The UKWW currently holds a broad number of pro active members across both the UK and Ireland. I might suggest that their efforts are better isolated here on an individual forum and such detail with the appropriate permission could also be shared with the TORRO effort? ;)
PS. How do member feel about this suggestion. All constructive posts are welcome? [y]

Spot on Tony... a very good idea. I don't know why UKww hasn't done it before.

.
I'll set one up for a trial period.

Yes, I think it's a good idea - everything seems to be scattered all over the place atm and in the 'heat of the moment' it's not obvious where to post.

Hmmm I'm not sure on this, I already struggle to understand how a lot of pictures are posted with the caption 'is this a funnel cloud.' when it's barely even scud. I think a specific forum for funnels/tornadoes is just asking for lots of pictures just wishing! I don't want to be too negative but after so many people having access to so many pictures/videos of tornadoes in the US I think a little bit of low level shear gets people far too excited.

Whoops looks Iike I'm the bad guy ;-)

Chris U R not the bad guy your comments could well b justified here!. Lets C what the others think ;)

PS. Though TBH I do think the UKWW members have always pretty much been a mixed bag of experienced guys and newbies! I think maybe the photos of scuddy tendrils looking like FC's can be easily re designed to any novice member without any malice! ;) ...Its all pretty much a learning experience!

For me, it's for the RFMI threads and new members who don't know where to post a possible sighting.

............anyhow, atm and without consulting mods, managers or exec I've set one up here c&C please, & help with title wording etc.

Thanks Andy

Would agree have discussed the convective threads recently to try and keep those in line. Having a separate dedicated forum for confirmed tornado's/funnels and one for possible, is this? RFMI type reports which could be moved to the confirmed thread once some discussion has taken place. Ones confirmed as not being either could be put in a third thread for info and ref. I will open a thread in team management for discussion and to see if we can get someone to set it up. Posted Image

initially i think it could be Chris hence my suggestions for three headings Confirmed, RFMI / Is it type post and the Confirmed Not Thread. Once we have a few of it is not's we could ask any posters to check the Confirmed Not thread before posting and have the sticky thread for some good look alike tlinks others have posted in the past for people to check against.. Could be a really good educational thread.Posted Image

Been a member for ages. Don't post much but read the forum every day.
In my opinion this is a great idea.

Personally dont like the idea of a confirmed not thread, this could alienate posters from wanting to post what could be a funnel or tornado in the future. I like the idea RMFI and then a confirmed thread. My tuppence ;)

Dave could I also respectfully suggest that a header box is somehow included at the top of the forum explaining required detail of events?...Is this possible with the forum settings??
Many years ago I had to do this with the TORRO forum. I was able to add a box of instruction at the top about specific detail which is required from members.

Things have moved on a lot since then so probably a bit out of my league now ;)

Tend to agree with Ian's comments here!...Maybe a slow start with one forum but with a bit of flexibility to new posts from members. Valid or non valid pictures and reports here for constructive debate might be the best way forward. Just for now of course ;)

Not confirmed maybe a bit harsh Ian, But open to suggestions. I do think we need a thread with the pitfalls if only for the help of those posting that are learning, Done with respect towards the poster and their permission. Last thing I would want to do is scare people off. Posted Image

I think it could be done Tony. Could you post what would be the best guidelines.
