In the METARS, Newcastle, Leeds & Bradford, Bristol & Southampton all reporting 5 °C at 09.50 BST. Warmest anywhere is Scilly St Mary with 9.7 °C.

Tulloch Bridge as low as -5.2C, date record is -5.6C so a possibility that another location went lower.

In Ireland
-3.6C at Casement and -3.0C at Dublin AP, both station records for May with 50+ years of records.
Also a roadside station near Baltinglass in West Wicklow went as low as -4.8C

My min this morning was -0.6C, 2nd lowest in my 13 year record, with grass -5.8C which is a station record.

Topcliffe had the lowest English minimum reported by synop at -4.2 °C, Castlederg in NI had -2.9 °C, Bala in Wales -0.8 °C.

Overnight of the 5th was the coldest minima since February 2nd.My neighbour is a keen gardener told me his young sweetcorn plants were frosted inside his polytunnel.
