That's what standardly happens to storms round here. They come in a straight line towards us and then suddenly go east or west, but generally East towards MK. I think it must be something to do with the topography, but I don't know exactly causes it

Interesting comment too, So I guess its over the cotswolds escarpment and then, because of the anti-clockwise spin it pushes it northwards? , you could be right.
